Here's what you can expect as the Product Development Analyst.  

You will provide technical support for the development, maintenance, and testing of product illustration software by creating calculation tools and test cases for Sammons Institutional Group. Responsible for research and analysis of policy information in order to address calculation issues on in-force policies.  Responsible for creating, maintaining, and using spreadsheet tools to address ad hoc calculation requests.  Support other product development initiatives as assigned.

  1. Review and develop thorough understanding of annuity product specifications in order to ensure accurate reflection of product features in illustration software
  2. Utilizing spreadsheets, accountable for developing calculation tools to be used both internally and by outside vendors to develop and test illustration software.
  3. Develop test cases to be used internally and by outside vendor to ensure all product features are accurately coded in illustration software.
  4. Create, maintain, and enhance calculation spreadsheets used to validate or supplement product-related or system-generated values.  Utilizing spreadsheets, accountable for detailed and complex manual calculations to provide product and policy support to other departments.
  5. Automate departmental procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  6. Provide product and other technical support to other departments by researching and responding to questions, calculations, or problems encountered in areas of the company; communicate appropriate explanations and solutions based on analysis and understanding of the complex components involved.
  7. Participate in and/or complete special projects as necessary to support Product Development initiatives, which may include analyzing and summarizing data or generating reports.
  8. Participate as a representative of Product Development during relevant project meetings.
  9. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders across the organization, which may include other actuaries, marketing, and IT, as well as outside vendors.
  10. As stated within the Company Attendance and Punctuality policy, regular attendance is required and expected in order to meet the business service levels and workflow demands

 

QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Business or equivalent, preferred
    • 2-3 years of practical work experience in illustration system support or background in annuities is strongly preferred
    • Possess a high level of mathematical ability and strong analytical skills and demonstrate attention to detail
    • Demonstrated strong systems skills with experience in Excel, Access, and Word and ability to read, interpret, and edit Macros and Visual Basic
    • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Highly motivated to learn about SFG member company products, procedures, and operations
    • Possess ability to research problems or questions and provide responses to the requestor
    • Ability to work both individually and as part of a team
    • Demonstrate strong problem solving skills and ability to multi-task
    • Ability to work effectively  across teams and contribute to the success of the organization outside of the individual team/department
