As a New Business Specialist you will communicate on all phases of information relating to New Business applications and correspondence.  Process New Business applications and respond to inquires around pending applications in a timely and accurate fashion.


  1. Provide professional, high level, customer service via telephone (inbound and outbound), e-mail, and/or written communication, handling policy inquiries.  Conduct communications in a pleasant, professional manner with the needs of the customer on the forefront of all interactions.  Accountable for providing follow through to ensure correction is made to resolve problems or complaints and notify individuals of action taken.  Perceive, distinguish, and empathize with emotions of internal/external customers.  Record calls (including electronic “tagging”), process requests, and update account history with results of inquiry to include proper documentation.
  2. Process applications and corresponding paperwork and document any outstanding requirements.  Apply premium and issue contracts.  Independently conduct initial review and make judgment & decisions that fall within prescribed policies and limits.  Know when to involve management for items outside scope of authority.  Initiate telephone communication with and educate agent regarding review results.
  3. Using comprehensive knowledge of annuity contracts, government regulations, and departmental policies and procedures provide support to New Business Associates and other departments as situations warrant.
  4. Examine imaged documents, policy pages, and/or related documents for completeness and adherence to company standards and government regulations.
  5. Monitor personal work to verify accuracy and to ensure compliance with company standards and regulations.
  6. Research inquiries and respond to appropriate parties in a timely manner.
  7. Process a variety of tasks and high volumes of work in a fast paced, time-sensitive, environment.
  8. Identify defects and provide support to other team members when questions arise around poor quality items.  Report situations as needed with suggested modifications to procedures and workflow as necessary to ensure efficient effective processing of transactions.



  • Minimum of one-year life or annuity experience, 2+ years customer service, or 4-year college degree preferred
  • Proficient use of PC and Microsoft Office products
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently
  • Ability to adapt to frequent change
  • Ability to work periodic overtime, sometimes with relatively short notice
  • Due to the financial nature of this position, a credit check is required
