This internship position is part-time (15-20 hours/week) during the school year. Ideal start date would be February/March 2019.


Our internship program holds an 80/10/10 approach, meaning that 80% of your work time will involve performing tasks or working on projects within your hired work area. Another 10% of the time, you will be exposed to learning in other areas within your assigned division to get more corporate experience. Then, the final 10% will be spent in shared experiences across the organization, where you will get to really learn about our culture and work environment.


As a Marketing Graphic Design Intern, you are responsible for assisting other team members in implementing marketing plans and designing marketing pieces based on departmental and organizational goals. This includes assisting with creative concept, graphic design, graphic illustrations, photo selection, and page layout, as well as providing design direction when appropriate and managing projects to stringent deadlines. Ensures all files are accurate, proofread and turned around on time to project managers.  Responsible for consistency of corporate standards and brand strategy on all promotions.

  1. Collaborate with Marketing team members to design company materials and communications. Creative contributions may include printed and electronic marketing materials.
  2. Participate in the development and distribution of company communications, including assisting with creative concept, graphic design, graphic illustrations, photo selection and page layout.
  3. Interpret and analyze comments and recommendations of various Sammons Financial Group member company professionals and departments as part of the review and approval process.  Responsible for working with creators/writers to incorporate feedback into the final marketing piece as deemed appropriate.
  4. Work closely with marketing team members to fully understand the product and market place of a particular project.  Collaborates on the overall marketing strategy, creative strategy, and message. Works daily with writers and coordinators as well as with other designers to complete project tasks as needed.



  • Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Graphic Design, or equivalent business experience
  • Knowledge of Macintosh computer systems using Microsoft Office software and common Adobe desktop publishing software including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Acrobat Pro.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and reprioritize projects
  • Ability to be creative
  • Command of Standard English usage including sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, spelling, and excellent proofreading and editing skills 
  • Strong problem solving abilities
  • Strong organizational skills
