As the Senior Training Consultant you will be responsible for analyzing, designing, developing, and assessing the success of strategic learning programs for multiple business units. Creates and develops performance and competency-based learning and performance support solutions for a variety of technical and functional needs for multiple Lines of Business or a specific functional area. Consults with business partners utilizing knowledge of instructional design (ID) methodology to understand learning needs and address the impact, success, and opportunities for improvement of existing learning solutions. Partner with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and business leaders to develop performance-based learning that furthers team member development. Manages own projects effectively by ensuring all tasks are completed on time.


  1. Consulting

Provide a broad range of consultative service to senior leaders and all levels of employees and departments for skill building and competency development with the goal of high performance:

  • Consults with business leaders in the organization to assess, analyze, and identify learning and communication needs based on current and future strategic plans
  • Partner with managers, leads, and SMEs to identify learning interventions and define development needs of employees
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to managers, leads, and SMEs in the areas of performance and leadership excellence
  • Collaborate with business leaders and, at times HR leads, to examine current/future needs and recommend a path to positive change and enhancement of business unit performance
  • Establish and maintain relationships with business units to support achievement of strategic business objectives through delivery of appropriate learning and development solutions


  1. Training and Documentation

Assesses, develops, delivers, and evaluates training programs, learning material, workflow/procedural documentation and communication solutions across multiple lines of business while supporting organizational strategic goals.

  • Determine training objectives, design and develop training curriculum, training tools (including PowerPoint presentations, assessments, job aids, etc.) and training schedules to facilitate all training within the team that are in line with our overall training strategy for each department, including, but not limited to:
  • New team member training
  • Existing team member training
  • System-related training, including enhanced software
  • Product-related training
  • Updated procedures training
  • Soft skills-related training
  • Train-the trainer support
  • Mentor Training Consultants, business training advisors/SMES and advise, audit, and assist in improvement of design, delivery and adult learning methodologies.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of training programs and determine appropriate resolution to areas that may need improvements. 
  • Communicate progress of participants during training to appropriate managers.
  • Develop eLearning courses using Adobe E-Learning Suite, Adobe Captivate, Articulate and other authoring tools.  Successfully implement programs via our learning management system (LMS).
  • Research and stay current regarding industry trends in training methodologies and resources and implement as appropriate. 
  • Author and/or coordinate comprehensive documentation of all training processes; ensure electronic procedures are complete and current; ensure all procedures are documented using approved format.


  1. Project Management for Training

Manage training projects including the development and oversight of project design plans, implementation plans, and on-going continuous improvement plans. Represent Shared Services Training as a prime contact on projects. Interact with project personnel and business leaders on matters that require training coordination and support between business units. May manage external training vendors and contractors. Monitor training project schedules and resolves project related issues appropriately.

  • Experience in leading training projects using project management methodologies and tools
  • Manages to deliverables and milestones on time and within budget
  • Ability to understand end-user needs and drive solution to meet those needs




  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Training, Business or Organizational Development or Master’s degree or coursework in Adult Education preferred
  • 5-8 years of professional training and facilitation experience; CPT, CPLP, PHR or similar certification preferred
  • 2-4 years of Life/Annuity experience preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience with adult learning methodologies
  • Demonstrated proficiency in development and training industry software such as Adobe E-Learning Suite, Captivate, Articulate, Lectora and uploading/reporting in a Learning Management System
  • Information Mapping Certification required or ability to acquire within 1 year
  • Ability to convey complex topics in a simplified manner via excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to be innovative and creative in developing quality programs
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated initiative by taking constructive action without being asked and analytical skills to determine proper course of action
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
  • Ability to create an atmosphere where learning is viewed as essential to personal and team growth
  • Demonstrated understanding of the perspective and requirements of the customer (manager and employee) and a willingness to meet or exceed their expectations
  • Ability to develop, maintain and build effective working relationships among all levels and cross various locations using tact and good judgment
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • 5-10% travel required
