Here's what you can expect in the Manager, Business Intelligence Position:

Oversee the Business Intelligence team providing broad business intelligence analysis and metrics needed for appropriate Division and Sales and Marketing leadership. Provide leadership and support to establish tools and strategies to translate raw data into valuable business insights.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Manage and direct all activity in the Business Intelligence department to deliver analytical solutions for strategic use.  Coordinates data services and data systems across the Life Division in coordination with other Business Intelligence teams across the enterprise.

 

  1. Maintain integrity, accuracy, consistency, and continuity between sales reporting systems and data; understand data sources to determine how and where data can be collected; create sales, marketing and other databases as needed to support initiatives; investigate available data, identify and recommend and build sources to solve business needs (create efficiencies and opportunities); work closely with IT which includes being the primary liaison between IT and appropriate division.

 

  1. Partner with Sales and Marketing leadership to support sales initiatives and provide key information and reporting to support business decisions.
  2. Analyze sales data to draw meaningful insights for Sales performance, product trends and marketing initiatives: utilize Cognos Report Writing and analysis skills, to create meaningful reports which help provide insights to business questions; mentor team members to help develop their analysis and investigative talents; serve as resource for information and trends
  3. Strategically create additional earnings opportunities through improved processes and data analytics; drive and champion new technologies, collaborations and improved processes to support sales growth.
  4. Partner with Sammons Financial Group (SFG) member company teams to optimize organizational effectiveness by identifying key metrics, performing gap analysis, and additional qualitative and quantitative analysis.  
  5. Maintain effective interdepartmental working relationships to ensure consistent sales support and reporting.
  6. As stated within the Company Attendance and Punctuality policy, regular attendance is required and expected in order to meet the business service levels and workflow demands.
  7. Work with the other Sales and Marketing Managers to integrate vendor database and performance against internal marketing databases.

 

Qualifications:

  • A college degree, preferably in a business-related major, or on-the-job education and financial services experience equivalent preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience with analysis preferred
  • Possess technical and analytical skills including analyzing large data sets that allow business to answer complex questions and additionally have experience with spreadsheets and databases
  • Possess strong ability in working with SQL, Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel as well as others
  • Must embrace and effectively shadow the corporate core values
  • Effective leadership, management, decision-making and motivational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, including listening, oral and written
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups at various levels within the organization
  • Must exhibit excellent organizational skills and have well-developed oral and written communication skills with which to communicate effectively with a variety of personalities
  • Ability to establish and articulate a vision, set goals, develop and execute strategies, and track/measure results
  • Must exhibit a high degree of decision making ability, using tact and good judgment
  • Demonstrated persistence with a positive, results driven and creative attitude
  • Due to the financial nature and level of accountability of this position, a credit and criminal background check is required
