Manage assigned Independent Broker Dealer (IBD) accounts within sales forecast in order to exceed objectives in both quantity and quality of sales. Provide a full range of management and sales services for assigned accounts. Actively prospect within those accounts for producer and producer group opportunities that can be leveraged to grow IBD sales and distribution.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Build relationships with key IBD account sales executives, Office of Supervisory Jurisdiction (OSJs), producer groups and producers. The Sales Vice President is expected to attend major producer events, coordinate regional and local meetings, be comfortable making presentations to groups of producers, becoming a trusted advisor to agents and agencies, and in general adding value to our key partnerships.
  2. Coordinate with IBD account regional and divisional executives to partner with Midland Regional Distribution Partners to develop and deliver concentrated regional meetings and lunch and learns.
  3. Manage assigned accounts within sales forecast in order to exceed objectives in both quantity and quality of sales, while providing a full range of management and sales services.
  4. Expand IBD distribution by surfacing new marketing opportunities to the Midland National Regional Distribution Partners and North American Company Regional Vice Presidents, and assisting IBD Accounts in recruiting life producers into their direct relationship.
  5. Utilize CRM (SalesForce) to document activities and track referrals to distribution partners and prepare detailed and time-sensitive reports reflecting the progress made toward the accomplishment of the IBD account objectives.
  6. Demonstrate a strong ability to articulate the Company’s strategy and tell a compelling story about strengths, culture, values and our drive to succeed.
  7. Seek out opportunities to collaborate with other Sales executives, and where necessary work across all divisions for the best results for Sammons Financial Group (SFG) Member Companies as a whole.
  8. Act as the strongest promoter of our Company and serve as one of the best leaders in the organization.
  9. Understand all North American Company and Midland National life contracts, value statements, products, their uses, applications and sales ideas for each. Be able to promote both companies and their products in a variety of situations and recommend to the company additional products or changes that will positively affect our results.
  10. Manage the business mix and quality in the IBD accounts; this is done by becoming knowledgeable about the products, market conduct, and sales practices within the region.
  11. Responsible for taking corrective action to remedy sales practices that are detrimental to the client or the Company. These corrective actions include additional training of the distributor or producer with regard to profitability measures, paid case ratio, persistency and debit balances. Corrective actions may also include ordering the producer to stop detrimental sales practices or termination.
  12. Focus on expense management by completing travel expense reports on a timely basis.
  13. Provide documentation and recommendations on IBD Account development issues as needed.
  14. Perform administration support functions on behalf of Sammons Financial Network, LLC in its capacity as wholesale distributor for variable insurance products issued by Midland National Life Insurance Company. 
  15. Frequent in-region travel for agent meetings; approximately 50% overnight or road travel expected.
  16. As stated within the Company Attendance and Punctuality policy, regular attendance is required and expected in order to meet the business service levels and workflow demands.
  17. Participate in other initiatives and/or projects as necessary.
  18. Maintain a positive image of the Company.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree with emphasis in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics or equivalent business experience. (Typically 10 years of related, progressive work experience in financial services would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)             
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in life insurance sales with demonstrated successful track record preferred
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Must project a positive, professional image and conduct; this includes but is not limited to professional dress, language and conduct. This is required to represent the organization in a positive manner at all times and particularly while interacting with IBD Account executives, partners and producers
  • Minimum 40-50% of work time to travel across assigned geographic territory and attendance at industry related conferences and meetings
  • Due to the financial nature and level of accountability of this position, a credit and criminal background check is required
